IHF Chapter Meeting Last Night

Last night was the Chapter Meeting of the International Hypnosis Federation. Marcia Singer was are guest speaker and covered a mind, body and spirit technique of her creation. She has several hats that fit into this area. She explained the different ideas according to her beliefs in what is important and one thing kept coming across to me. Each of us are not only allowed to have certain beliefs on what can help and what is important but it is expected. After all it is us that controls our specific body and it is us that makes the healing occur in the end (maybe). Shelly Stockwell stated something last night as well that might just register with a couple of you hypnotists. Hypnosis is explained by each one of us according to our relative experience as long as we are not quoting someone else. Hypnosis is relative in the end. You can believe it is alpha or a theta state or you can believe that it is any state you want. Maybe the truth of the matter is that hypnosis is waking someone up rather than trancing them out. Could it be that life itself trances the people we see and our job is to put life back into reality and to allow them control once again? Mystically yours, Doc Magi

IHF Convention in August

The IHF is having their convention the first weekend in August.  Looking at the guests it appears you can get just about any kind of knowledge you want at this convention.  One thing about the IHF is that they don't just concentrate on hypnosis.

Good news is that I have the NGH (National Guild of Hypnotist) and the IMDHA (International Medical and Dental Hypnosis Association) that concentrates strickly on hypnotism as well.  One good thing about being a member of several organizations is you get to experience a lot of different opinions on the subjects.

I will let you in on a secret though.  Not one person or organization is right all the time.  Hypnosis is a relative science in that nothing is proven wrong most of the time and the secret to success is adaptability.  If you have a cookie cutter approach to hypnotism you will fail more than succeed.  The issue is not that the hypnotist fails but that the clients does not achieve what they are looking for in the end.

New and Improved Magic Show

I performed my first magic show with an assistant last week.  It was a great show and it took alot of the pressure off.  I was able to just relax and have the effects flow effortlessly.  I can not recommend it enough that having someone assist you in a show is the way to go.  It was funny because we wrote out the show that morning and arranged everything according to the routine.  Then Mardee kept track of the show by the piece of paper and was a pro.
